President Trump’s “Super Intelligence” Shift Is Spreading. The Next Frontier Is Human Readiness.

NASA, NSF, NIST, DOJ, DOE and NIH are already adopting SI language. The Artificial Intelligence Institute says the next question is what happens to the human being using it.

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 9, 2026 — President Donald J. Trump’s move from “Artificial Intelligence” to “Super Intelligence” is no longer just White House terminology.

The change is spreading across the federal government.

President Trump’s September 29 executive order directed executive agencies to begin using “Super Intelligence,” or “SI,” in official communications. NASA now maintains a dedicated Super Intelligence section and has even updated a senior technology title to Chief Data and Super Intelligence Officer.

The National Science Foundation now has its own SI focus area. NIST is updating its standards, testing and evaluation programs around SI. The Department of Justice has directed its employees to use the term, including in court filings. And this week, the National Institutes of Health announced, with the Department of Energy, Biohub and other partners, work on SI-ready data for predictive models of human biology.

The signal is becoming difficult to miss.

America’s technology vocabulary is changing because the capabilities themselves are changing.

At the Artificial Intelligence Institute, we believe the next frontier is not only the intelligence of the machine.

It is the capability of the human using it.

For two years, the Institute has worked directly with learners already using increasingly powerful systems.

We have seen the fork in the road clearly. In our classrooms, 78 percent of students were already using AI before anyone taught them how, and only 13.6 percent had any guidance.

AI can become a mechanism for cognitive offloading, handing difficult thinking to the machine.

Or it can become a cognitive amplifier, something the human questions, directs, verifies and controls.

Those are two very different futures.

The Institute, led by its President, Dr. Russell Knight, a senior technologist of AI at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, has developed proprietary behavioral training designed to move learners toward the second. In the Institute’s own field data, students using AI the right way rose from 15.8% to 88% after a roughly five-hour program.

The governing principle:

Think First. AI Helps Second.

The objective is to create a repeatable pattern of reasoning, verification and human control so that increasingly powerful intelligence systems become an extension of human capability rather than a substitute for it.

We describe that transition as:

Cognitive Offloading → Cognitive Amplification.

That is why the emerging Super Intelligence language resonates with us.

When these systems are used well, they can begin to function like an individual superpower, extending creativity, reasoning, learning and discovery.

The Artificial Intelligence Institute has begun reviewing portions of its own public language to reflect the emerging SI vocabulary while keeping the widely understood term AI where clarity requires it.

The mission itself is unchanged:

Teach human beings how to remain in command of increasingly powerful intelligence.

The White House is asking how far the technology can go.

The next national question may be just as important:

How much farther can the human go because the technology exists?

“The age of Super Intelligence should not end with smarter machines,” said Dr. Knight.

“It should produce more capable human beings.”

About the Artificial Intelligence Institute

The Artificial Intelligence Institute teaches people across ages, grades and professions how to remain in command of increasingly powerful intelligence systems.

Its proprietary behavioral architecture trains learners to move from cognitive offloading to cognitive amplification, questioning, directing, verifying and controlling the technology rather than surrendering thinking to it.

Think First. AI Helps Second.

The goal: turn advanced intelligence into a personal superpower without surrendering human judgment, authorship or control.
