President Trump Calls It “Super Intelligence.” The RealSuperpower Is the Human Using It.
The most important breakthrough may not be a machine becoming super intelligent. It may be teaching humans to use AI to amplify their own intelligence.

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 13, 2026 — On Sept. 29, President Donald J. Trump signed Executive Order 14434, directing federal agencies to use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in place of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” in official communications. The order says today’s frontier systems increasingly amplify human ingenuity.
Agencies are following. NASA says it is updating its communications to use the term, and describes using SI to support missions, analyze data for trends and patterns, and develop systems that help spacecraft and aircraft operate autonomously. The Justice Department told employees on Oct. 6 to use it as well, Reuters reported.
The Artificial Intelligence Institute believes the question that matters is not whether the machine deserves the word “super.” It is whether the human using it becomes more capable because of it.
“Super Intelligence should describe not only what the machine becomes,” said Dr. Russell Knight, the Institute’s President and a NASA/JPL senior technologist of AI, “but what becomes possible for the person using it.”
After two years in classrooms, the Institute has seen what decides it. Students did not wait for schools to decide whether AI belonged in their lives. In the Institute’s classrooms, 78 percent were already using it before instruction, and only 13.6 percent had received any guidance. Without preparation, the easiest path is to hand the thinking to the machine: cognitive offloading. When students are taught to question first, challenge what the machine produces, verify it and stay responsible for the result, the machine stops replacing thought and starts amplifying it.
In the Institute’s own field data, students using AI the right way rose from 15.8% to 88% after a roughly five-hour program, and students verifying AI output rose from 14% to 89%. School districts have adopted it, and the National Science Foundation has expressed interest in the field data.
“Call it amplification. Call it Super Intelligence, provided the human remains in command,” said Richard Awni, the Institute’s Executive Director.
America should build the strongest systems in the world and compete to lead. But the lasting advantage will come from people who know how to use those systems without surrendering judgment to them. Not humans replaced by machines. Not humans subordinate to them. Human intelligence amplified: a personal superpower, available on command, without giving up command.

About the Artificial Intelligence Institute
The Artificial Intelligence Institute teaches people across ages, grades and professions how to remain in command of increasingly powerful intelligence systems.
Its proprietary behavioral architecture trains learners to move from cognitive offloading to cognitive amplification, questioning, directing, verifying and controlling the technology rather than surrendering thinking to it.
Think First. AI Helps Second.
The goal: turn advanced intelligence into a personal superpower without surrendering human judgment, authorship or control.
